Motorcycle Cancer - What Next?

Greetings fellow automobile enthusiasts, and welcome to the first example of What Next? - where I will unabashedly make fun of things that someone out there is taking too seriously. Like motorcycle cancer, for instance. As always, if you have any suggestions for future topics, drop me a line or let me know in the comments.
Motorcycle Cancer. Can you believe it? That’s just what I need. Next thing you know they’ll try to tell me that smoking my pipe is going to give me cancer.
What!?! Is there anything I can do?
Anyway, Randall Dale Chipkar (I love that name) has written a book called MOTORCYCLE CANCER? Are motorcycles KILLING US with cancers of the prostate, colon, kidney, bone, etc?
I’m going to go out on a limb here and answer:
No.
There. With that out of the way, lets start making fun of this guy. My favorite line from the press release is:
Historically, governments and various EM related industries (hydro-electric, cell tower, cell phone, etc.) have denied EM health effects so as to not create panic.
Or, you know, maybe because there are no health effects. Also:
My book, MOTORCYCLE CANCER?, and this website does not “prove” anything discussed. I am not a doctor, health professional or electronics expert.
Quite possible the most unnecessary statement I’ve ever seen. What do you think?
In summary:
- What Next?
- Motorcycle Cancer
- Great name
- Not a Doctor
As always, feel free to sound off in the comments.
What Next?, motorcycle, cancer

[...] couldn’t resist encouraging you to cast your eyeballs on this post by Dorrington Williams at Motor Musing about motorcycle cancer. For some reason, I just found it this morning. And no, I ain’t [...]

We should not miss the point here. If your motorcycle is pushing up to 500 mG of ELF EMF radiation into your groin then there is reason for health concern. Page 2 of the motorcyclecancer site presents facts that cannot be ignored. Riding is dangerous enough and we should not have to gamble with our health on this technical level also. Cancers are becoming an epidemic and ELF EMF radiation is emerging as a recognized carcinogen. To quote the site:
Individual responsibility leads to content accountability.
Ultimately the choice is our own to become more educated about these EMF issues.
I give credit to the author for clarifying that he is not misrepresenting himself as a doctor, electronic or health professional. He is bringing this motorcycle EMF issue forward for further investigation. Inconclusive proof does not mean that something is safe. Evidence alone can validate precaution. Again he clarifies that proof of motorcycle derived cancer may not be established yet however he is asking valid questions about this serious possibility. To quote the site:
Science proves electromagnetic danger. Now that a type of motorcycle ELF EMF has been exposed, I hope denial is not going to be considered as a solution.
As for governments and industry keeping people in the dark about emerging EMF health issues, I would like to quote the site again:
Many experts believe existing government regulations are extremely inadequate concerning various EM close exposures and public safety. Unfortunately this can create a false sense of well being for different industries that claim compliance to government standards. Where does that leave the consumer?
I feel that this Chipkar guy is bang on target and time will prove him correct.

Both my book and website provide evidence and facts for rider awareness. You don’t have to be a science expert or health professional to understand this serious issue. Common sense is the key. Government capabilities can be limited concerning certain situations and regulations. Precaution is the reasonable option.
It is appalling to find so many cancer jokes on some of the rider sites. Responsible rider discussion can lead to health correlations that provide further insight. Riders that share personal health issues reveal a new kind of courage. More and more riders are speaking out.
We hope that one day all riders will join us in this biker safety quest.

Initially, I felt the original versions of my book and site did not prove much, however, now I feel quite the opposite. Today, both my book and site provide an extensive accounting of EM danger for many riders. This information needs to reach riders worldwide so that personal decisions can be made regarding precaution.

This information can only enhance the motorcycle industry for a safer vehicle.
Together we can make a difference.
